HEALTH INSURANCE
All Erasmus+ incoming students should have health insurance covering the period of their planned mobilty.
It can be either a private insurance policy obtained in their country of origin or in Poland.
 
  • Students from the EU/EFTA countries
If you are insured in one of the EU or EFTA states and your stay in Poland is related to studying you are entitled to treatment in Poland.
Remember to have with you valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
 
The scope of treatment accessible with EHIC is limited. You are entitled only to treatment:
  • which is necessary and unscheduled
  • within the public healthcare system
  • performed on the same conditions as for the Polish citizens

Additionally, it is also recommended that the students hold personal accident insurance.
Students from the EU/EFTA countries who do NOT hold valid medical insurance in the national insurance system of their country should follow the guidelines for the students from outside the EU/EFTA.
 
  • Students from outside the EU/EFTA
Students from non-EU/EFTA countries should purchase health insurance before arriving in Poland. The policy must be valid for the entire duration of their stay. The policy can be issued by any insurance company.
 
 

 
 
 
EMERGENCY 
Emergency nr: 112 
  • The most important information that should be given when the dispatcher is notified:
    • the exact place of the incident (address, location, landmarks)
    • the reason for the call
    • who needs help
    • who is calling the emergency medical team
You should answer the dispatcher's questions, comply with his instructions for first aid. The accepted call should be confirmed by the dispatcher.
 
 
  
ED - Emergency Departaments (SOR)
In life-or-death emergencies, emergency rooms and hospital emergency departments (EDs) provide assistance. 
Such situations require immediate emergency action, including rapid diagnosis and treatment. In the case of the ED and emergency room, patients are admitted according to the urgency of their medical condition, as assessed by medical staff, rather than in order of arrival.

How to get help?

Documents: EU citizens should have an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), which verifies their entitlement to healthcare. Non-EU citizens should have a passport and a confirming health insurance (e.g., a travel insurance policy).
People with refugee status (UKR): Individuals with refugee status (UKR) are eligible for free consultations under the same conditions as Polish citizens.
No insurance: If you do not have insurance, a visit to the emergency room (ER) is subject to a fee according to the facility’s price list.
